Angel In The Water

Synodontis angelicus displays an excellent combination of grace and beauty

by Mike McEwan

Synodontis angelicus is a spotted catfish that's popular among aquarists. The body is dark with many small white spots covering the fish. All fins are striped in the same color pattern. Synodontis angelicus pairs may lip-lock much like cichlids do in battle.

Tank Setup

Some specimens of Angel catfish can be quarrelsome. The aquarium should be provided with driftwood and plants for shelter. These fish live in slow-moving waters, and conditions aren't critical.

Feeding

These catfish are omnivorous and should be fed accordingly. Favorite foods include insects, as well as worms.

Water Chemistry

S. angelicus doesn't require any special water conditions. A neutral pH and common tropical temperature will suffice.

Breeding

Breeding and sexing information is unreported.
