This catfish is fairly widespread from the White Nile throughout West Africa (also Lake Tchad, Niger, Volta, etc.). It is found in mainly still water.I have never heard of Synodontis eupterus being bred in captivity. I keep mine in a 55-gallon with various Pelvicachromis with no problems. It is now 4" SL and is usually peaceful, but I have heard of older specimens being agressive. It stays in a cave in the tank's corner all day, but at night it is very active. I feed it Wardley Shrimp Pellets, but when hungry it gladly scavenges. I have been told it relishes chopped earthworms. Don't keep it with fin-nippers! Mine has a beautiful dorsal fin. Peat extract or peat filtration is a good idea.
