Giant Danios are fast swimming fish that are great additions to a medium-sized community aquarium. The base color of the body, which is elongated, is blue-grey. Several yellow stripes and markings cover the fish. Fins are transparent with a hint of yellow.

These fish need plenty of swimming space. Plants should outline the rear of the tank, with open areas in the front. These fish are peaceful and will generally get along good with other fast moving tankmates. Giant Danios are hardy, and can be kept in clean water with a neutral PH.

Giant Danios, like other Danios, are omnivorous. They should be fed a varied diet of prepared foods such as flakes or freeze-dried tablets.

These aquarium favorites will spawn only when kept in large schools. They are sexually mature at 2.5 inches, and males are more brightly colored. Sunlight and fine-leaved plants will encourage breeding. The parents may eat their own eggs.
