The Giraffe catfish has a color pattern resembling a Giraffe, which explains its common name. This fish is a sociable and unassuming detritus feeder, whose only vise is to rearrange the fine substrate when feeding. The snout has three pairs of barbels.

The tank should have a sandy substrate and plenty of hiding places. A good filtration system should be provided, as well as strong water current from a filter or powerhead. Because they mind their own business and are peaceful, they make ideal tankmates for fish such as large Barbs and Characins. Sharp rocks and stones may damage this fish's mouth. Breeding and sexing details are unknown.
