The Jaguar Catfish is a carnivorous fish from South America. As its name would suggest, the fish has a cat-like pattern of brown spots on a light colored body. They are very attractive, especially as fully grown adults.

Jaguar cats need plenty of hiding places which can be provided with driftwood and large rocks. These fish are nocturnal and hide during the day, coming out at night to feed. A slightly acidic pH is necessary.

Males have an intromittent organ at the anterior of the anal fin and are less robust than females and possibly brighter in color. Eggs are fertilized internally by the male before hatching.

Jaguar Catfish prefer to be kept in pairs, male and female if possible.
