One Tough Dude With its large size and brute strength, the Aeneus Grouper is a force to be reckoned with by Michael McEwan
The Aeneus Grouper is a fish that grows huge and isn't suited to the average home aquarium. Their bodies are beige, with five pairs of brown, vertical bands covering the length of the fish. The fins have a bluish color to them, and a brown stripe runs across each side of the head, through the eye and connect at the forehead. Tank Setup Reaching a length of nearly three feet, Aeneus Groupers obviously require an extremely large aquarium. In fact, they are best suited to public aquaria. Subdued lighting helps make these predators feel more at home, as do many hiding places through the use of large rocks or coral. Aeneus Groupers are solitary fish that are best kept singly, or with other fishes equally as large. Young specimens are more active. Feeding Favorite foods of these fish are other fishes and crustaceans. They are predators, and so live foods should be supplied. Use your imagination when choosing foods; they will eat most anything. Water Chemistry A salinity of 1.025 and temperature between 64-74 degrees F is recommended. If kept in proper conditions the fish lives a long and active life. Breeding Successful breeding of the species in captivity has not been reported.
