Lemon Gobies are among the smallest fish on the earth, growing to an adult length of just one inch. Their bodies are beige with a few slender blue stripes on the head and gill cover. The caudal, anal and dorsal fins all come together to make a slender and "pointy" tail.

Lemon Gobies spend their time blending into the sandy substrate, darting at the slightest movement. Corals should be provided as hiding places, and they should not be kept with larger fishes that are able to eat them. Only the smallest fish make suitable tankmates. They are hardy fish that are easy to keep and a good beginners fish.

Once acclimatized to the aquarium, they will accept most foods, though small live foods are preferred. These Gobies possess a body mucus that is said to be poisonous.
