The Round Batfish is famous for its tall, verticle body. The fish is round, with tall dorsal and anal fins that give it an overall appearance of being a much larger fish. All fins except the caudal are brick red. A few dark bands run vertically on the body, which get more prominent with age.

The Round Batfish prefers to live in salt water, but can also adapt to brackish waters. They grow to an adult length of 20 inches, which means as adults they will be over a meter tall. Only display tanks will support such a large fish. Hiding places should be provided. These Batfish like to shoal in groups of at least three.

Feed these fish live foods as well as prepared fish foods. They're omnivorous and eat almost anything that looks like food. They are long-lived fish that make a great addition to the large home aquarium.
