The Spotted, or Golden Seahorse is the most popular of Seahorses found in the aquarium. This fish, which everyone seems to know and love, belongs to the Seahorse and Pipefish family (Syngnathidae). The fish swims vertically-upright, standing on its tail. The tail is long and used for balance, and the body is a golden-brown with dark freckles. It also uses its hooked tail to anchor itself to branches of coral or a Sea Fan.

Small live foods are essential to this Seahorse's health. Even freshwater guppies make a good meal for these fish. Temperature should be the standard 75-79 degrees F. While this species will reach a maximum length of 12" in the ocean, they rarely reach this size in captivity.
