Picked up some Zoa here in Tampa, when I got home and went to put the coral in the tank, I noticed that there was 2 mushroom corals on the rock as well, I thought that was pretty cool. Anyway here are some pics, no pics of the mushroom just yet, it's on the other side of the rock.

Thanks,
Shawn

I noticed in the pic that not all the polyps are open. the cause of this is a warning that something is wrong.

1. A hermit crab or other invert or fish may have disturbed them. If so that is OK as long as they open back up.

2. Zoa Eating Nudibranchs may be feeding on them. Check for any critters between the polyps. I recommend removing and dipping in a concentrated solution of iodine and seawater for 15 minutes then inspecting with a bright flash light for any critters.

3. Sun Dial snails could be present check.

4. Small xanthid crabs with black claws...check.

5. Keep an eye out for white fungus patches. This is a bacterial infection that FW dips w/iodine will help. Remove any white spots manually. This something to watch for.

These tips should help keep the colony safe and healthy. Remember when you see partial opening of polyps for no known reason to get vigalant about inspecting the coral thoroughly.

Thanks m007, I have already taken care of it. As far as the polyps being closed, this was about 30min after placing them in the tank, I assure everyone that they look great now. I will take some picture tonight and upload them. The frags from these, the other set of polyps, and the mushrooms are looking good too. Thanks everyone.
