i wanna feed my fish guppies, but there are a lot of fish in the tank and i want everyone to get food. is this possible? is there anyway to insure everyone will get a bite. i dont want my fish to starve to death. any suggestions?

cuz feeder guppies are good for fish. plus its cool.

one tank i am feeding for sure live guppies is my red devil tank

my bigger tank has a severum, firemouth, jewel, krib, blood parrot, elephant nose, african knife, anglefish, ect but those are the main ones.

i want my knife to get life food, because they are supposed to be fond of them. but, cichlids are faster, and smarter so they would just eat them all

and why not feed guppies?

feeding guppies can spread/cause disiease if the guppies have disieases wich is likely if you buy them as feeders from an LFS.

You're gonna want to breed your own in a really large tank if they are to be a large component of the diet for the fishes in that tank...or have a huge quarantine tank with the intention of buying a lot of guppies monthly and holding them for a month before feeding.

That's quite a menagerie of fish in that tank. There must be many problems aside from fedding time.

This isn't a Noah's Ark, because there are only one of each kind. And if it's an alphabet tank, there seem to be many letters of the alphabet not yet represented.

...let me recommend Xenocara for the X.

childawg,
i was plannin to buy these off my friend, so i know they are fine.he breeds them himself. i am also gonna let them be in another tank first, for about a week before i feed them

wetmanny,
thanks for the help. only two of the fish are really out of place, the elephant nose and knifefish. they rest are cichlids. there is no problems at all goin on in my tank. there is really no problems during feeding time also, i am just looking for an alternative. all the fish come to the top to eat flake food, including the elephant nose and the african knifefish. the only problems is which one is goin to lay claim to the clay pot i just put in there.:)

Even though he phrased it as a joke, he is correct in talking about possible crowding issues in that tank as well as the hodge podge method of collection you seem to have going for you.

I'd take the joke with a grain of salt but consider it for what it was meant to be--a satirical look at possible overpopulation within your tank.

In France a mishmash of cichlids is called bouillabaisse! A mix of feisty territorial fishes that battle one another to an exhausted standstill isn't the very best kind of fishkeeping.

I'm sure there is one species among the mix that's interesting enough to you for you to try to give it ideal housing.

For instance, if two utterly unrelated fish in a tank are competing for the one available hiding place, you might take their hint and provide a second flowerpot. A sensitive fishkeeper would add a third flowerpot, so that one is always available.

Better to be funny than to be angry...

Name calling should be reserved for play grounds, not fish boards.

You don't mention the size of your tank. Is it big enough to provide for the adult sizes of all those fish? Edit: yep, checked out your specs. A 50 gallon tank is completely inadequate for the adult sizes of half your fish, much less all of them. Does pointing this out make me a bad person?

Feeder fish are not the best source of nutrition for any of the fish you listed. While as a supplement it can be fine, guppies should not be the only thing you're feeding. I would gut load the guppies to increase their nutritional value, and feed them only once or twice a week, with regular feedings on a quality flake, wafer or frozen food.
