For awhile now I have been telling everyone about how im going to switch out fish and also add more artificial ornaments to my tanks enviorments.

In the past I just finished cycling a 10gl tank with only 2 ornaments in it followed by 4 Cherry barbs. Today I got my check and so I went to the petstore downtown. I bought 2 Decoration rocks, some fake plants and some backup chemicals. Also I included these in my order..

3 Cories
2 Ghost Shrimp
2 Golden Barbs

Which my plan was to this, since the 10 gl was cycled I switched out the new fish with the new. Following procedures on putting the new fish in took some time. (Im tired right now just thinking about it). All The Cherry barbs that were in the 10 gl were sent to my new 5gallon tank which has been setup for 2 days so it can be cycled. The Cherry barbs cannot be put with cories. I fount that out due to the aggresiveness of how the chrry barbs fin nip. So I bought Golden Barbs which are not top dwellers and are much more peaceful. The Ghost Shrimp really have no point, they take up no living space and are cool as ever to watch them scavenge. All the fish in the 10gl get along fine. And everything is going okay.

I know you all are thinking my water stats are going to go crazy but that is the least of my worries. This tank has been cycled so I still have a greater chance of keeping 95% of all my good bacteria. Its just that the new ornaments will take a week or two so that new bacteria can colonize on it. Which may give me just a very little bit of nitrite but thats nothing a few ater changes cant fix. Also The fish sizes in all as a sum are equal. Since the Ghost shrimp dont count im in the safe zone. I just wanted everyone to know where I am right now and to thank everyone who has gotten me this far in success of this hobby! :D Thanks once again all.

(I can get pics if you all want)

Looks nice, but it still seems like a lot of fish, especially since you don't have real plants.

Why don't you try getting some java fern or something similar?

Well.. make sure you get easy plants and increase the lighting if necessary (at least 2 wpg for low light).

Like I said, get something like java fern or java moss... they're easy and widely available. If you bought some java moss and just left it sitting in the middle of your tank it would probably grow.

You have to keep the water clean, etc. for the plants to grow well, but it's the same with fish anyway.

You can share the filter media and gravel from the fully cycled tank with the new tank... would cut down any fish losses you could take on.
I see from the pic that you are using a hang on back power filter... if you are using the same filter, as in a hang on back, even a different brand you could do this very easily.
