Hi everyone. My name is Jennifer Godwin. I am new, of course, to this forum. I thought this would be a good place to come for advice since I just started my first saltwater aquarium today. I am excited about this! I am just a bit worried right now because I am not sure if my tank is going to work out though. The lady at the pet store told me that the crushed coral in the bottom of my tank would make the water very cloudy, even after cleaning it off some so that it isn't so milky, but my tank/filter has been running all day, and my water is still really cloudy. I can't tell that it is getting much better. Is this normal at first? Can someone give me a little insight as to what to expect and when, please? I would greatly appreciate it. Again, I am glad to be part of this forum. Thank you all, have a great day.

Jenn

Welcome to AC!

Start a thread in the SW forums and you should get plenty of input. Try to give as much info as you can. I am not a SW heavy, but I think the general feeling is against the use of crushed coral.

Hi Jennifer. Welcome to the hobby and site!

but I think the general feeling is against the use of crushed coral.

Sure is the general feeling...

Jennifer, to get you started, here's a thread that's 'stuck' to the top of the Marine Newbie Forum specifically about crushed coral:

Feel free to ask as many questions as you need and don't be shy- there are a lot of wonderul people on this site and they're always willing to help.
