Upside down catfish acting strangely

I have an upside down catfis in my 30 gallon planted comunity aquarium.
This morning he started swimming at the surface of the tank.I thought he was just looking for food but he's still doing it and he hasn't even touched the bottom all day.He's a picture of health and dosen't seem to have anything wrong with him.please help.:help:Also he isn't gasping.
 
How long has he been in the tank? And what else is in there?
 
he's been in there for about 4 months,his tankmates include gouranamys tiger barbs a pleco and a porthole catfish not to menchion the black loach.The tank has lots of plants and there are no signs of tankmates pestering him.
 
oh my gosh I just checked on him and he's lying on his side at the top of the tank,I need help quick.
 
ammonia/nitrite/nitrate?
temp?
what do you feed him?
any other physical signs?
 
none other I think the water is fine the only thinh I can figer is that yesterday I aded some new plants,he's getting weaker I do have an air pump in there so I don't think it's oxygen
 
oh and I mostly feed flake and daphnia.
