My tank has a water wheel. I looked on the internet for stuff about them and can't find nothing. How often do I change them and also how do I clean them? :huh: I could really use the help.
 
It's a bio wheel. I change it but I don't know if I'm changing to often or to much. Or if I can clean it.
 
you are not supposed to change it until it falls apart; it is where alot of the bacteria in the filter live.

if it looks "dirty" shake it in some old tank water, bot dont run it under tap water or clean it with soap- that will kill all of the bacteria living in the bio wheel.
 
its also supposed to look dirty. you shouldnt do ANYTHING with it unless its completely gunked with physical matter and not spinning at ALL.
