I have about 50 baby apple snails less than a cm. About a year ago my dad bought apple snails about an inch and a half but they died 4 months after purchase. My snails only get to about an inch before they die. But i always see new eggs and small snails.

Do you feed them or just let them clean up after everyone else?

let them clean up. I have tons of algae after my pleco died. and they eat the fallen leaves off my plants.

Try a little veggie in there for them if you want them to thrive. Blanched zuchini or anything with good calcium in it. Might also help to thin them out if you have tons and tons of them. Snails can be overstock too...

This is why they are dying off and starting over. As they grow, their appetites grow. You need to supplement the standard fare of leftovers and algae with veggies. If fed properly, as I'm sure you are aware, they will grow to the size of an apple, and reasonably quickly. Trick is to keep them fed. My brother in law breeds african land snails, the apple snail's terrestrial cousin, and at apple size, they eat a head of romaine lettuce a week. Left overs simply aren't enough to sustain them.
