Hello!
I have a 36" light strip from an existing All Glass hood (not a full hood). I was looking at the AHSupply 1 x 96 watt Bright Kit (http://www.ahsupply.com/96watt.htm). Will this kit (including reflector) fit into this single tube light strip ? My strip light looks like this (http://www.all-glass.com/products/hoods/striplite.shtml) on the top picture.
Thanks for any help!

Yes it will, but the ballast will have to be mounted elsewhere. I had the exact same setup.

Did you have enough wiring to locate the ballast elsewhere? Inside the stand maybe where it can be hidden?

Yes, with the AHsupply kits there seems to always be enough wire to locate inside the stand or wherever is best. I currently using 2 different 96w kits and all my ballasts are underneath the tank inside the stand. You should have enough length depending on height of tank.

Actually u should have enough wire so just the main wire with the endcap will reach from inside the stand.

Been there, done that. Yes to all your Qs.
Click on my 46g sig link for a pic.
Note the legs I rigged. The 96W PC bulb throws off more than enough heat to crack your glass top, so you need legs. Also - if your centerbrace is black plastic, cover it w/ some white plastic (I use a sm. grocery bag folded up under the glass).
The ballast gets warm too, so mount it on an inside surface of the cabinet where it will be out of the way and get some ventilation.

Thanks for the info guys. Squawkbert, what did you use for the legs? Heat was one of the issues I was thinking about if I was going to mount the kit inside that existing light strip. There has to be some way of dissipating some of the heat out. Also, a glass top is what this light strip is going to be sitting on.
