hi im new 2 this iv just bought a house with a cement pond. it was full of mud, its approx 10ft square with a flat bottom 4ft deep, with a 2ft x 2ft x 6ft well in the center. Its taken us a week of hard work 2 empty it and now we dont know what 2 do with it, Its 2 far from house 2 put electric on, what can I do, I would like 2 have it as a pond its in a natural dip surrounded by a sunken paved garden. It was so badly over grown, that we didnt know that pond or garden was there. can any one help.

Welcome to AC! I'll move this to the pond section; hopefully for more attention.

I would'nt go without a filter, the water would get stagnant and would attract mosquito breeding. A pond is truly one of the most relaxing things out there, I would run electricity to it and enjoy. Ponds are alot of work. Check this site out.... http://www.aquascapeinc.com/messageboard/index.php

You can buy small solar ones on ebay but they wont be strong enough. I would say you'd need at least a 1,000 gph pump for good water turnover, and some sort of bio-filter for becteria to grow in and filter/veggie falls to help break down ammonia, If you are planning to have fish in it.

How far is it from your house?
