Light question

After some success with low light plants, I decided to replace my flourescent tube with a Flora-Glo tube.
Is there any difference in the number of hours per day a plant light should be on and off?

Is there a difference in wattage between the two? if not there will not be a big difference in the effect of the new tube. If so the light period should remain the same. (between 10-14 hours a day)
