A friend had to move recently and had to break down her 125gal tank.
All the other fish had been rehomed, but nobody wanted the big ugly lazy fish...
SO, I decided I would take him for my 110. Everything I've looked up about these guys says they're agressive to EVERYTHING. This guy must be an exception. He'd been living with other cichlids small enough to fit in his mouth. Not too long before I ended up with him he had been living in a 55 with 1 little fish that was certainly a good snack size, but showed no agression towards it.
Even now, in my tank with my big Pleco and Polyopterus he's shows little if any interest in them. (Of course, the piece of driftwood in my tank has plenty of nooks that he wouldn't be able to fit into.)
Here he is. I think he needs a name.

nice save... is his face&mouth all deformed? looks like a possible bulldog :)

No idear. Not much of a cichlid person, but I took him because they were going to have to euth. him....none of the other stores around here would take him and the place he was being kept at was gonna toss him. he's about 14-16" long I think.
He seems a little big for my 110, but I don't see as though he's particularly active, maybe he's just stressed.
Any suggestions for a good food to help him color up some? After being stuck in an unlit 55 gallon tank in the back of a pet store for a few months he's gotten rather dull looking.
