Is it normal for an electric yelow lab to turn a shade of black?

electric yelow lab to turn a shade of black? Colud it be frtom stress I just added some new rock work to the tank? Water is vey good condition.

Over the years I've seen that in a couple of dominant males. They almost look like they've got a 5 o'clock shadow. Nothing to worry about.

my dominant yellow lab seems to do his lil color change when the tank lights are off.

No worries, it's normal for some of them to do that. Some do, some don't, it just depends on their breeding. I have yellow lab's that have never shown the black color, while there are some in a display tank at the lfs that do.
