Hi everyone. This another one of my attempts to keep a planted aquarium (I tried a few years back). Anyways, I recently got a whole bunch of plants, some DIY CO2, and some flourish excel, and hope to have a nice aquarium. It's a small and humble planted tank, but please tell me what you think! :) My tank has about 2.5 WPG. I will be taking pictures every week to see how my plants are progressing in their growth.

Those plants look really healthy so far!

I like the set-up and the choice of plants. How long have you had it going?

Is that the Hagan CO2 ladder I see in the pictures? Let us know how it goes with that, as I am thinking of getting one for myself and trying out some DIY CO2.

The crypts look like they are several plants bundled together. Take a look at them to see if you can separate them and plant each one a couple inches apart from the other.

evster: Thanks for your compliments! I've had my CO2 system going for 1 and a 1/2 weeks only now, but I must tell you it makes a huge difference! The ludwigia's been growing much fast after I added the CO2. I just recently got most of the plants like the water sprite and c. wendtii. The Java fern I've had for years now. Definitely get the CO2 ladder. It has done wonders for the short time I've had it.

Mgamer: I think I want another watersprite bunch to put in that dead spot. That would be overkill with the watersprite though. :P

SnakeIce: Do you think they are really a few plants bunched together. It came in a pot and I took it out of the pot but it's possible.

If am wary about seperating the crypt now, since I just got it last week. I would like for it to settle in before messing with it even more. If I do break it up, might it die from the infamous "crypt melt"? Will it help it grow faster?

If you move them, they might melt, yes. But crypt melt doesn't mean that the plant dies. It's just that all or most leaves die and new ones grow. In my experience, even small pieces of root grow to whole plants. I think crypts are quite easy to propagate. They just don't like to be moved.

That's a very nice start. Love the duckweed.
