Trickle Filter Tank

I assume your talking a wet/dry sump style filter. I have the AGA MegaFlow Sump and so far so good. Easy to setup and let's me put one of my heaters in the sump.

More expensive than a do it yourself, but time is money and sometimes I have more of one and sometimes more of the other.

Like everything, done wrong it goes bad.

A wet/dry setup offers huge amount of biological filtration, as long as you maintain it properly, you should be good.

THe tendency is to take advantage of the massive biological filtration and let the tank get out of hand.

bio balls and pot scrubbers are both a bad idea they will become nitrate factories. Replace the bio-balls with LR rubble and you will do much better.

Just curious, what do you guys mean when you say “maintain them properly"? I think I'm doing a pretty could job, but is their some specific maintenaince you have to perform with a wet try system?
