If later down the road ( I mean like really down the road) I want a bigger tank can, will it cycle if I use water, sand, and rock from my old tank? I was thinking every couple days maybe, I could take around 5 gallons of my old tank water and put it in the future tank. Then when It's full I'll get some sand and live rock. I will put some of the old sand in the future tank and also some live rock. I wil probally still need to cycle even if the water will be mostly my old tank water? Also my cycling tank's ammonia is at about .2 a couple days ago it was at .1. The nitrite is at about .1. So my cycle is about half way?

Also nitrATes at about 5-10.

Hey buddy...Yes, it MAY help in the cycle, no guarantee though...make sure you store the water in a container that wont leach anything into the water and contaminate it...

On your current tank, sounds like you on the right route there...You cycle wil be complete when ammonia and nitrITE go to Zero and your nitrATE goes to > or = 5...and then stays that way for a week constant...

yup, yup, and yup:)

Thanks!!! Also since my eclipse hood light is screwy ( only one of the two light sockets are working, the front one) I'll probally get a retrofit one thats maybe.... 2-65 watts? What can I put in my tank then? Also should i worry about the brown algae on my glass. Theres things that are sticking out. Really thin line then kind of a ball at the end.all normal?

BTW the little line with balls are like very very small. Also how should I get rid of it? just scrubbing? It looks like the brown algae ( I think ) that I also have on my subtrate and LR but with the little lines.
