hey everyone i'm about to be starting up my first reef aquarium, i have a 47 gal tank, 2 penguin 550 power heads, a protien skimmer, and am still decidin g on a filtersystem for it, the guy at my LFS says that a biowheel for a 70 gal tank would be sufficient for my aquarium, but i've heaard that its not a good idea, what do u think? i'm planning on going with about 40-45 lbs. of live rock, and about 50-60 lbs live sand, i'm still trying to figure out the whole cycling deal. I don't have an Ro filter at my house so i'm purchasing the water from my LFS because my water is very hard. I've been looking for LR online and am thinking of getting it from aquarium connection, anyone have any experiences with them? i have a 130 watt fixture with an actinic bulb and a 20000 k white, sufficient? i'm aware that it will take time to get everything up and going, and that the initial start up is the most critical time for this. I have a friend that has had several reef aquariums, and he's going to help me setup mine, but he's very vague with his descriptions on certain things, even the filter. so any info anyone can give is greatly appreciated, i also was wondering how do u feed corals? well i think thats it for now, so i will sit and wait for some advise, BTW i'm not going to be seting up the tank for about another week or so, should i start putting water in the tank and running the equipment, or should i wait until it's time for the whole setup? thanx
