I was thinking about taking my tank to the mall and having the Airbrush guys just go wild with some really cool St.Louis themed graffiti and then clear coat it with some krylon fusion. Most likely have it all done black and white so the fish still show up lol.... what do ya think about that idea?

I think that's a really cool idea actually but maybe instead of an urban theme you could do like a crazy landscape, I don't know, like outer space comes to mind. That way it'll be like the fish are suspended in that atmosphere. I think characters or words even in black and white might be too busy and detract from your fish. Why don't you just replicate your avatar on your tank?? ;) kidding, I'm just teasing you Andrew.
But that could be awesome....

Sounds like a neat idea to me. Not sure how artistic you are, but if it were me (not too awfully artistic myself), I would try drawing something out with crayons markers or colored pencils in that style on paper. Or you could even have several friends each add something. Then tape it to the back of one of your existing tanks for a while. See if you still like it in 2 or 3 weeks.

If you are still inclined to have something airbrushed without doing the above, I would still have them put it on poster board and attach it to the back of the tank. If you do decide to make a background change later on, you'll still have an airbrushed piece of art to hang on a wall.

Would be a PITA to remove it later on if you decided you didnt like it and it was painted on. Just a thought.

Cheers!

Cool idea and definitely unique. Just black and white though? You could have the graffiti on a "wall"? What colors are your fish?

thanks for the ideas, be easier to paint it onto constructino paper or thin plexi glass. I was thinking having a brick wall painted on back and then grafiti ontop of that. St.louis theme

FYI, I knew a guy that painted the back of a 40g tall tank flat black. It looked great until.....some water hit it, and the finish peeled in a couple of places. It would be a pita to scrape it off later, the plexi idea does sound like a good one. Go Cards.
