My name is a little deceiving as it refers to my first car which was a 93 civic. My car is actually an 2005 SRT-4 which is not the world's greatest but holds its own in a race. I didn't say the g35 was a bad car but it is not as fast as some people make it out to be.

Ooh I really like that Porsche! I was really close to getting a g35, I liked it better than the 350z. Unfortunately it won't fit a baby seat so now I'm screwed until I get a 3 car garage.
I did test drive the SRT-4, it may be fast in a straight line but the rest of it is still a crappy neon. You can't beat it for the price but compared to the EVO or STI it was a piece of junk.

I was going to get a G35 coupe, but the wife showed me who was boss. Had to have four doors for the kids........yadda yadda yadda.... Ended up with a TSX.
I didn't find the interior to be very nice in the G35, but loved the exterior and the smooth power of the engine. a coworker had an early G35, and the interior reminded me of a pinto with some cheap silver plastic stuck in unusual places. Scratches an scuffs were everywhere too.
After the wife showed who was boss, the pendulum swung the other way and I got this.

Though the SRT-4 is a neon with a bunch of performance upgrades like larger motor, turbo, stiffer suspension, and other things. It is still $10k less than both the EVO or STi. It would be like comparing a Camaro to a Vette.

Are you saying that vettes are garbage?
So are you saying the SVO was dog crap then because it was a 4 cylinder stang with a turbo slapped on?
There is a large price disparity between srt4's and EVO/STi's but yet they are always compared to each other why not compare them to cars that are in their class such as the Civic Si, RSX, Tibby, WRX (non-STi), SVT Focus, and hell even the Cobalt SS/SC (which I love btw.)

The SVO was a POS. Yeah it was fast... but 80s era Stangs were POSs. Actually, 90s era Stangs were POSs too.

im going to have to disagree with that. I have a 1990 GT with a 5.0 in emaculate condition and its the best, most fun car, I have ever owned. Its incredibly fast, hasn't needed hardly any work done on it, and is really bad a$$. What is the reasoning behind your statement? What do you drive?

a Shelby Tempo GT.
Sorry dude... you may think its a nice car... but they were slow as slugs for how much engine they had. A 5.0 Mustang isn't terribly faster than a 5.8 F150 of the same era. How do I know? I used to race Rustangs with said F150 back in the 80s. Did I lose? Of course. But not by much.
And fact is, GM and Ford cars from the 80s and 90s sucked major arse. That accounts for about 90% of the volume gains to Toyota and Honda. Fact.

of course ol americans cars are terrible, i will be the first admit that. But going along with that, the Tempo is probably the crappiest I can remember, well and the dodge spirit. The fact of the matter is that I enjoy driving the car, I have done heavy mods to squeeze the potential out of the engine, and I find it an overall great car, it turns a lot of heads.

I am gonna have to agree with clawlan as the Fox Body stang is one of my favorite cars as it had tons of potential with that 5.0. It totally ripped the turd gen camaro apart and was the quickest thing you could probably buy in that time excluding the Grand National which was another fabulous car.
Dodge Spirit R/T's were pretty cool along with the turboed daytonas.
Garbage

Agree with the pro mustang guys! Ive got a 2004 Mach 1, took it to the track last weekend and did a 13.2 1/4 bone stock! Not bad for a $30K car, show me the Infinity/BMW/Poesche/etc etc etc that can do those numbers for under $70k. You cant because Mustang is the most bang for your buck you can find anywhere. Best car Ive ever owned, I love it! ZERO problems with it!

an '04 with the Mod V8 is in a different class from the 175hp crapomatic 80s 4.9.
The other thing is.... ANY vehicle with modifications will be faster. But it was a slug off the dealer lot.

Your right about the 04's being in a different class but you have to give credit where credit is due, fox bodies are among the easiest and cheapest to mod and they respond better to mods than most any other make. Nearly everytime Ive ever gone to the local dragstrip the best time of the night usually belongs to a heavily modded foxbody. Those things have the potential to be ridiculous fast.

I'll give you that.
I'm just a bigger fan of the 4.6 Mustangs. A far nicer engine with far, far more potential than the 4.9
