Hey all my dovii is very sick ( though still eating and swimming around, very mobile ). It has gotten a lump on its head and it left eye has popped out a bit. WTF !!! i do waterchages religiosly ( every 2 weeks ). i have added some salt to the water and have done a 40% water change. Is it going to die ? what would you guys recommend it do.

Thanks marty.

I'm not 100%, but I had a molly w/ Velvet (fungus) which looked very similar. My hesitation comes from the swolleness and the protruding eye...?

Either way you generally cannot go wrong by doing a lot PWCs. I would say daily, and the salt can't hurt (but may stress the fish a bit). But again, he is already stressed with this :(

I would keep up your salt and WC to 40%-50% daily, and in 2 days see how he does! Hopefully someone else has more experience than I!!!

WC's will help the popeye, however..i would add some melafix/pimafix to treat whatever is above the eye

Maybe it is my computer, but I do not care for all the downloads to get to it.

If it is pop-eye, it is a sign of poor water quality. IMO, water changes every 2 weeks are not good enough.

Post your water parameters and tank info, please.

UPDATE: hey guys thanks so much for all your input u all have been great, i have gone and baught pond strenght melafix and aqurium pima fix. Just added it now ( i did a 25% water change before hand ) with some salt to add for the salt removed during the waterchange. though the head sore looks a tiny bit better, the eye looks like its poping out a little more, but hopefully now with the meds in it should be on its way to recovery.

Regards Marty.

I took a pic of the meds i'm using, pretty sure its the right stuff but let me know thanks.

i would push the WC's up to 50% weekly..
