Hi all,
This is just beginner's luck I guess. I purchased 2 really small blue rams (about 1 inch, female is slighter bigger) on Wednesday and left them in my 10 gallon tank. After feeding them live bloodworms for 3 days on Saturday I discovered little white/transparent/opaque eggs in a corner...apparently they had spawned in just 3 days!!!! Unfortunately I am still lowering my pH (7.4 now) gradually in the tank so I dont expect any eggs to hatch, but it is pretty exciting for me. See I have never been able to keep blue rams alive for more than 1 week, much less than breeding them. I have been told these fish are locally bred instead of imported though.

Specs:
10 gallon tank with a sponge filter. An additional aquaclear filter will be added soon.

Livestock: some floting hornwort and camboba carolinina (sp?), 2 blue rams

Condition:
pH 7.4 and getting lower, no detectable ammonia/nitrite. been feeding them live worms...and kept on lowering the pH (was 7.8 at first)...also this morning I took the tank out for some sun...came back and they spawned. Dont know what triggered it.

Update: well as expected they starting eating their own eggs:mad: ...some eggs also seem to be have been infected by fungus...methlyene blue added.
This might be a mistake...will methylene blue kill the beneficial bacteria in the sponge filter? I only used half the dosage. I do have another sponge filter in my main tank but I hope I won't have to resort to that.

Thank you for reading and just want to share my exp.
