I have a pair of pearl gouramis (Trichogaster leeri), male and female, that are close to 4" long that I raised from 1/2" . When people approach the tank, the male tries to jump out of the tank -- there's a glass canopy. You'd think they'd be used to us by now.

The tank is a 20Long with lots of floating plants and tetras and corys as tankmates.

Unfortunately they are stuck in this tank for some time. No plans for a larger tank.

Are your Trichogaster leeri this high strung?

i have a funny/sad story.

i had a pearl gourami once in a 55 with 2 other gouramis, some ground feeders, and danios. i was setting up 30 gal, because i was gonna put africans in it. when i brought some africans home and put them in the 30gal, the pearl gourami like flipped out. it sped around the tank about 5 times, and then slammed into the filter tube that goes in the water. the slam killed the poor thing and i had to toss him. it just knocked him cold. it was funny, until i realized it was dead. too bad too, he was cool
