How much of the Seachem K, N, P liquid ferts (in ml)would it take to equal the dosing of nutrients from dry ferts I am dosing now?
I currently use
potassium sulfate - 3/4 teaspoon 1x/wk.
potassium nitrate - 1/2 teaspoon 2x/wk
potassium phosphate - 1/16th teaspoon 1x/wk

Is it worth using the Seachem liquid, or will it be very expensive as compared to the powder?
Thanks! :)

IME, much more expensive.

Wow, I had no idea that Seachem's macro ferts were that dilluted.

It all depends on what convenience and accuracy are worth to you. I used to do DIY, now I'm all Seachem and love it.

Well, the convienience factor is a plus - I'll pay more for that, but not a lot more. I mean, if I have to dump half a bottle of Seachem K, N, or P into the tank every week, that is way too expensive.

But if I could get a bottle to last as long as my Seachem trace elements, (which lasts about 2 months) then it is worth it.

I guess I need to know how many ml of liquid I'll have to dose to equal what I'm dosing in dry right now.

I can check my nitrates and phosphate, but how in the world can I check potassium without buying a $70 kit?

What do you all like your tank levels at for:
K?
N?
P?

My N is around 10-15 ppm.
My P is 3 ppm.
No idea about the K, but everything looks great. :)

I agree with the 10-15ppm nitrates, but only go .5 - 1.0ppm on the phostphates. As long as there's some P in the tank, that's all I need to know. And the K......I dont' worry about it. A 50%'er every week takes care of any overdose.

So I guess I'll just need to monitor my N and P levels when I switch over to the Seachem products? I guess there will be a learning curve... :)

I follow Tom Barr's advice to do large-scale changes (50%) weekly to "re-set" the nutrient levels, and except for occasional nitrate checks, I have cut 'way back on testing without problems.

Yes, I do the 50% 1x/wk and 25% 1x/wk also as I have discus.

Back to my original question... what I really need to know is equivilancies.

What does 5 ml of Seachem Potassium equal in dry powder? 1/4 teaspoon of Potassium sulfate?

I need to know the same for the nitrogen and phosphate liquids too.

If it takes 20 ml of Seachem ferts to equal a teaspoon of dry ferts, lets say, then it is not worth me switching over.
