Help! My tank is a cloud

I switched over my 29 gallon to a 75 gallon last night. I used fine crushed coral for my bottom, about 1/2 inch-3/4 inch layer. I expected it to be fairly clear by this morning, and it has improved slightly but generally it looks like one big cloud. Is this typical? How long before it is clear? My eel must be wondering where the hell he/she is without being able to see a **** thing :huh:

Also, if Ammonia is slightly high, how can you bring it down?

Hi there. My tanks both cleared up within one day- then again, I used live sand. Here is a sticky thread located on the Marine Newbie Forum regarding crushed coral:

It is not recommended and I just wanted to point you to some reading in case you didn't know the effects of crushed coral.

Secondly, what kind of water flow do you have in there? The better filtration and water flow, the faster your tank should clear up. Although I've never used crush coral so I am not sure if that could be a contributing factor.

Ammonia can be brought down by water changes. Did you use any of your substrate or filter media from your 29-gallon to help cycle your new 75-gallon? If not I would suggest you do this for the sake of your inhabitants. Can you give us more information about your set-up and inhabitants?
 
The only critter that is housed in my tank is a Snowflake Moray Eel. I did use all the water from my 29 gallon, though I left the large coral bedding and opted for the fine sand for my new set-up. I used roughly 40 lbs. of Live sand and then about 30 lbs. regular sand (not live). I have some live rock. I use a Seaclone Protein Skimmer SCPS100 and two powerheads. Temp. is @ 77.7F as of this morning, P.H. is 8.2. Ammonia between 0 - .25 and Nitrate is between 0 - 5.0. I just set it up last night and it is very slowly, but gradually clearing.
