I've had a flame angelfish for just over a week now and it's starting to taper off its diet a bit. It still eats an equivalent to Formula1 (green) but nips at frozen brine and mysis. Behaivior is also starting to settle down (now a bit lethargic whereas it was once really active) Other inhabitants are fine.

Water parameters are in acceptable range. Flame ate well at LFS when I bought it (I bought the same green)

My thought is to hang tight and continue with the green. Maybe try some angelfish food?

Thanks in advance,

What are your water levels?

acceptable is never good enough only prime is proper....think would u like to live in ur own waste? please state ur water parameters for us so we can help. also flame angels have a record right now for doing great and then croaking for no reason so keep that in mind...if its that u cant really do much. are u feeding it sponge?

No, I'm not feeding it sponge but I did notice that all my small featherdusters are gone.

Trust me, my water parameters are "prime".

Thanks again,

u said acceptable...but thats ur choice..if u expect help though and if they are prime ...u woulndt have a problem posting them...and angels need sponge or they will die of malnutrition.

No problem; I will post them when I am home tonight.

Other than supplementing the diet with sponge, what would you say if the water parameters are all acceptable?

Got to admit one day my flame angel was swimming around without a care in the world and the next day she was no more. It was during the summer when us Brits had a very hot couple of days (so hot I had to float ice bags in the tank) and my temperature soared. We put it down to the heat but have never known for sure.....

Here are my test readings:

Ammonia = 0
Nitrate = 0
Nitrite = 0
Alk = 270 ppm
pH = 8.2
Phosphate = 0
S.G. = 1.022
Temp = 78 F

On a positive note, I bought some angelfish food on the way home and the flame seemed to be more interested and took some bites...I will keep an eye out and let you know.

Thanks,
