Mollys, salty or fresh water?

I have one silver molly and 7 molly fry in a 3.5 gallon. The fry live with guppy fry and the molly mum lives with 2 platys and 3 white clouds in a heavily planted 15 gallon. I have had her in freshwater since I bought her, just over a month ago.
I read on the internet that mollies can live in either fresh or brackish water, but I wanted to ask someone else here about it that has more experience with mollies than me.

They live in fresh water and have not shown any signs of disease or distress. But I wonder if they will eventually, because from what I read here, people have recommended keeping them in brackish water. Can they get sick or be more prone to illness in freshwater? Will the fry grow faster or better in a brackish tank?

while many say that mollies 'can' live in fresh water, virtually everyone i've known who has these fish say they do far better in a brackish tank.

I have a guppy and a molly in my brackish (1.008) tank with my F8 puffer.

Make sure that you use marine salt to make a tank brackish and not freshwater aquarium salt.

I don't mean to hi-jack this thread, but I have 2 10 gallon tanks with mollies in them... and I was wondering how much marine salt you would put in each of them to keep the tank brackish?
