hey I have a sick molly (I think) I put him in a breeder box last night certain he would not survive the night. This morning he WAS alive and doing well so I released him back in the tank....I found him on his side resting in the plants (plastic) no movement from him at all so I scooped him up and he started swimming. I have him back in teh breeder box and again he seems to have recovered. However I am leaving him there this time.
I am pretty sure he is ill or dying. he has no visible signs of being sick, no ich, no popping scales, no swelling, nothing, he is even eating great. So I am a bit confused. He has always been the loner of the tank, not really wanting anything to do with the other Mollies, just hangs by himself, he has always had a good appetite and has been active. Since I am certain fish cannot play dead or fake an illness what do I do? I can let nature take its course in the big tank but do not want him bothered by the others. Or I can leave him in the box he is in until nature has comepleted they cycle I suspect is coming. NONE of my other fish appear to be sick, just him. He is my only male out of the 6. I could possibly freeze him BUT before I kill him I need to make sure he REALLY is sick, I can euthanize a sick animal NP but a healthy one just doesn't sit well waith me.
Anyway here are the things you are probably gonna wanna know.
Ammonia......0
Nitrites........0
NitrAtes.......5
Ph..............8.4
20 gallon tank 6 monllies, brackish setup. Plastic plants. Nobody has been newly introduced.
Been cycling for 30 days now. Levals have been stable for almost 2 weeks
Temp is 80, lights on 13, off 11....eats a variety of food, tubifex and bloodworms, flake, and tiny pellets, plus algae and spirulina flakes (not all in one day 1 different kind each day).........
Any advice would be great. TYIA
