Can you have more than 1 sump on a large aquarium, or do you have to worry that one might overflow if the pump is not working fast enough?

well worst case scenario if a pump fails on a 1-sump system your water stops flowing. With two overflows going to two sumps if one pump fails the one sump will run dry and all the water from it will end up in the other sump... so as long as both of them are way huge you have nothing to worry about... why not just one big sump though? I can't see any reason for two...
