Yesterday my friend was checking out my Cichlids when all of a sudden he point to a fry. I was totally surprised as these are all juvenile cichlids, the biggest one that I have is 3.5" Peacock.
I am assuming that there we lot more than one but I now only see one fry. It hides under the rock when other fishes try to get him. How can I find out who the mother is? I am worried about how to protect it. Can I just block the area in which it stays. How should I feed him? Please help me out, I was not ready for this.

Looking at the stocking list, the fry is likely a hybrid, not really suitable for anything but food for the other fish. You can certainly keep/raise it if you like, but hybrid fish should not be distributed. If it has survived this long on its own, chances are it will be fine. I have yellow lab's in a 55 with Julie's, rainbows, and Synodontis catfish that spawn regularly. There are several larger juvies, and 4 small ones around 1" growing quite well on their own.
