Hi I just set up the Eclipse 29 Instant Ocean Kit, Added 20 lbs of Live Sand and some Tufa/Lava Rock. Live rock coming in tonight.

Salinity: 1.023
Nitrate: 0
Nitrite:0
PH: 8.0
Ammonia: Nill
Temp:78

I Started the Tank approximately 11:00 PM last night, Was very cloudy.
Let it cycle over night and woke up and the heavy cloud was gone but it is still cloudy. Is this normal when using live sand? I also added Cycle, and a water conditioner, and PH buffer. Could it be a reaction to Chemicals or is this something that takes 24-48 hours to clear up? I am New to Saltwater, but I work with S/W tanks constantly all day. Can someone please give me insight on this?

Thanks, Justin

Well, i would not be putting any chemicals in there at all...There is a sticky at the start of the newbie section that describes cycling measures...It is a possible reaction. But, more than likely, its just the sand in the water column, they can take a good few days to clean which all depends on filtration on the tank..I.E a filter attached with floos/wool in it, or no filter and just the live rock...

What typ of water have you used? RO water or tap? if you have usd RO then there is no need to be adding water conditioner. The salt that you use plays a big part in the pH balance. What type have you used?

Welcome to saltwater and more importantly, Welcome to Aquaria Central..
