Of course, I'll start.
First, get a good cut of meat. I chose a nice New York strip for this one.

http://www.uglygreencouch.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=264&g2_serialNumber=1
Add beer (to your stomach)
http://www.uglygreencouch.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=262&g2_serialNumber=1
Now....while the meat is warming to room temp, gather the spices/sauces.
I use Shoups (made in Indiana) Montreal steak seasoning, and a mixture of soy sauce and sesame seed oil (very little oil).

http://www.uglygreencouch.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=254&g2_serialNumber=1
brush the mixture onto the steak and sprinkle on the seasonings (lightly) Let it set for 10 minutes on each side.

http://www.uglygreencouch.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=256&g2_serialNumber=1
Cook for 4 minutes over hot coals on each side. Flip it once
http://www.uglygreencouch.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=252&g2_serialNumber=1
Let the cooked steak set for 10 minutes before eating....it's important
Enjoy!!!:D

I'm a well done kinda gal...take a parasitology class in college...you'll like well-cooked food too ;)
Actually, to be serious, I just don't like the texture of rawish meat...or a cold center... (I think we need an "ewwwww" emoticon...)

I dont like jerky. I second the need for an "ewwwww" emoticon.
I took a few anatomy/physiology classes in college and this issue was discussed. I don't care:) I refuse to ruin a good cut of meat lol
I knew the well done crowd would show up (Nothing well about it though) so I made a steak for you too:)

You can discuss it all you want, but until you actually excise one out of a piece of meat....way nasty (where is that darn "ewwwww" icon when we need it?!)
Let me clairify. I like my meat medium well. A small slice of pink in the center, fully heated...not charbroiled and dry. Cooked slowly under the right temp, with a good marinade, it stays moist...so ;P to you!

I cook my steaks the way my Dad once described:
"Dock the horns, wipe it's butt and run it across the fire twice!"
:dance2::dance2:
I pound ours, prick them all over with a fork, then marinate them in the fridge for 24 hours, turning 4 times.
Then onto the fire it goes, frequent flipping over a med. fire.
Oh, dang, I'm drooling.

mmm.. steak!!!
I can't eat it any other way but bloddy... Rare, sometimes blue...
Have any of you ever tried marinating steak in Soy Sauce?? Sounds kinda wierd, but if you haven't, try it... Soak it in there.. leave it for a bit... Tastes great. Adds just the right amount of salt, and tenderizes it quite well.

I cook my invisible steak with invisible steak sauce and eat it with a salad and potatoes.
(i'm a vegitarian, so I always eat invisible meat ;))
I really don't like meat much at all, steak tastes like shoes to me.
I only like a little bit of pink in the middle of my steak, if anyone cares.
Not beef jerky, but not still mooing when it hits your plate either.

Rallysman, great presentation! :D
For me, that steak was a bit too rare...
The marinade mixture looks good, and I will have to try it but, I'll leave out the
Montreal seasoning and use GrillMates Steak Rub instead. It has a better tasting blend I think... I've tried the Montreal mix.

Also, when grilling, never use a fork to turn the steak. Use tongs to turn it so you don't lose the juices. Thick cuts of meat grill better than thin, and yours (in the photos) looked good... If you have a CostCo, they have nice thick cuts of steak.

I'm hungry...
Guess what's cooking this weekend?!

Ok so you know how there's 3 stages the meat goes through when it cooks... where it has the texture of raw meat and is pink, has the texture of cooked meat and is pink, and has the texture of cooked meat and is grey. I demand my steak to have all three. Pink and hot in the middle (heh, oh yeah) with a thin layer of that raw-textured meat in the very middle, and lightly charred on the outside. To accomplish this I cook as close to very hot coals as possible, and prod it gently with a fork until it feels 'right'. flip only ONCE and it's gotta be a bit charred on the outside. This way you get the full range of textures and flavors in one piece of steak. To prepare it for the (CHARCOAL!!!) grill, I stab it repeatedly with a fork, and let it sit in my special marinade for a couple hours. Ingredients in order from most to least: Worchestire (However you spell it) sauce, soy sauce, red wine vinegar, LOTS of fresh garlic, minced, black pepper, cayenne pepper. ok so it's not that special but a simple marinade accentuates the natural flavor of a good piece of meat better than something crazy intense and stupid like a1 steak sauce...
I really can't eat steak unless I prepare it. One of the few foods I'm picky about.
dammit its 3am and you guys got me craving for steak.

How to cook a steak:
Fire up the grill. If it's gas turn it on HIGH. Cover.
Season steaks with salt and pepper. Garlic, paprika, and few other spices as desired.
When grill is SMOKING hot throw on the steaks and cover the grill again.
After a couple minutes rotate steaks about 20* for markings.
After about 4-5 minutes on the grill flip with tongs. NO FORKS!
Cookuntil desired (mid rare is best IMO).
When doneremove and set on rack over plate for 5 minutes.
Don't salivate over meat.
After 5 minutes serve.

If my guests are too squeemish for the usual "shave it, serve it" approach, I will do them "au bleu" - that's when you get the grill hot enough to shape horse shoes and toss your seasoned steaks on for 20-30 seconds per side, let sit on a warm plate, covered for a couple of minutes to take a little of the chill from the center, serve.
Seasoning: Garlic powder, onion salt, pepper - maybe a little salt after cooking. If it's a shoe-leather grade of steak, I'll marinade for a while in a little italian dressing w / extra garlic powder added or I'll use the white wine garlic pepper stuff from the Melting Pot restaurants (it's good stuff) - or I'll brush a little of the stuff from Andria's steak house on 20min before cooking.
I don't allow A-1 or similar products in my house.

The beautiful balance of nature is just everything running around eating each other
Go to favorite steak house, order medium rare steak, eat appetizers while waiting for steak. Eat steak, go home or to the movies.
Now that is how you cook steak for 2.

i try to cook it right, but i never do. aiming for medium-rare, i usually cook it too much on one side and then barely enough on the other. when i try to eat it, it's too rare in the middle, so then i throw it back in the pan for another minute and it's overcooked.
so i don't try anymore.

Haha, we need to coordinate and have the first-annual AC steak cookoff. I'm not sure what the prize would be but I'm sure that there would be not shortage of volunteers for judges. Now I've gotta cook steaks this weekend. A couple of years ago, the local electric company had to take down a apple tree in our yard. Now I have a good supply of apple wood.

My choice of cut is the top sirloin. I turn up my grill as hot as possible, and put on a nice thick steak for 4 minutes per side. This way, it sears it quite a bit but leaves the inside nice and red.

I will say :
Fillet Steak - at least 1 inch thick
3 - 4 hrs before cooking crush garlic clove, wipe over each side
Place in plate : pour virgin olive oil over, salt and black pepper to taste (a fair bit) on each side.
Turn over after an hour and a half or so
Frying pan - med heat. Olive oil, chopped red onions, salt, pepper, clove of garlic (crushed). 5 -7 mins.
Remove Onions
High Heat, cook steaks to taste (rare or med/rare), both sides.
Remove steaks to oven pan. Preheated oven to 150. Allow steaks stand inside for 10 mins.
