My tank is nearly 2 weeks old and I am drawing up a maintenance schedule to put in my MS Outlook. I have a couple of questions about maintenance on "Juwel" aquarium filters.
Manufacturer recommends alternating the cleaning of the blue sponges so all bacteria isn't killed every 6-12 weeks. LFS instead recommends cleaning the sponges in old aqaurium water when doing PWC. Any opinion on which option is better ?
Does anyone know what maintenance is required with the green nitrate removal sponge ? Manaufacturer documentation is a translation from German and isn't clear if it needs to be replaced every 6 weeks or cleaned.
Manufacturer recommends replacing the white cotton sponge every week. Did this already which seemed like a good idea because it was very dirty.
