I have a 29gal tank cycling right now, it should be done soon. I have asked this question on another site and got good advice but figured i would ask on here to see what other prople think. I plan on putting 2 0r 3 cichlids in this tank. One will be a convict but i am not sure of the other or others. I was thinking of a firemouth as my first choice. I also thought about a salvini. I need advice what will go better in that tank with a con a firemouth a salvini or a diffrent fish that would work that i am not thinking of. Pluse how many can i fit only 2 or squeese in a 3rd, and are there any schooling (surface)fish i can put in to fill up space and add more life i was thinking maby tigar barbs or something but i do not know. My tank will be done soon so if any one has advice i would appreciate it.

a salvini will get to large for your tank. they need at least 55 gallons, and are super aggressive. a con and firemuoth could work, but keep in mind that you will have to have plenty of hiding spaces and plants to help ease aggression.

Hi, just my opinion but your tank sounds a bit small for what you are planning. I've got a 30g with a pair of kribensis, 7 tiger barbs, 1 rainbow shark and a plec. The tank is always full of movement but there is still room for the fish to have some space. maybe you would be better getting some aspistogramma nijsseni or microgeophagus ramirezi and then adding a school of Gymnocorymbus ternetzi to give some movement to the tank.

I know i really like convicts. I was just hopping I could get a con and one other fish. I was thinking of a firemouth like i said, i was just wondering if it is possable for a con and 1 tankmate.

If you like convicts so much why not put a few in and then when two pair off remove the rest and see if your LFS will take them off your hands. The only down side to this is the fry which you will need to get rid of. Maybe your LFS will take them in exchange for some food/water conditioner. :)

I was thinking of that but i dont want to deal with fry at all. Would 2 males or femals work or will they fight
