Hello everyone, first post on the forum....

So, I got my 65US Gal set up and cycled with 40lbs of live rock.
All thats in the tank now are a couple of red hermits which i put in yest, who seem to love eating from the live rock.....

Anyways, I was thinking of having the following fish in my tank.....

2 Percula Clowns
1 Banner Fish
1 Lemon peel (dwarf) angel
1Royal Gramma
Snails, Hermits and Cleaner Shrimps.

Blue Damsels???
Firefish???
Mandarin???

ps they wouldn;t be going in all at once... this is the plan!)

blue damsels, but have heard they are very aggressive... could these be a possibility, if so how many would you reccomend

Also I quite like firefish but have heard that hermit crabs eat them when thay are sleeping in their holes.... is this true? If not how many could I keep?

The mandarin just looks awesome, but have heard it is difficult to keep. I would probably wait at least a year till i get one so my tank is mature with lots of life on the LR, would it then be compatable?

Also with these fish could you tell me which should be the first ones, and last to go in, and if there are any fish i am missing... should i have a sand sifter??

Sorry for all my questions... hope you can help me.:dance2:

First off, welcome to Aquaria Central and saltwater fish keeping..

The first batch of fish seem fine to me...

Second lot of fish...Leave the damsels alone, can very territorial and become quite agressive..

Firefish...which kind?

Mandarin - Leave well alone till your tank has been running for year. They are very demanding on copepods and it needs a well established colony for this fish to thrive in captivity...Would certainly be compatible in a years time, yes..

First would be the pair of clowns, last would be the mandarin....Your cleanup crew, along with good flow will keep the substrate clean....

Hope this answers your questions..We are here to help you mate, ask any questions you like, as many as you like... "I exist only to serve"...he he he he

I agree with Niko about the damsels and mandarin. I had a purple firefish and my hermits never touched him, the only thing with firefish is that they can be leapers so best if your tank is covered!!!

the type of firefish i was looking it is the common one i think, the Nemateleotris magnifica. Should these be kept in groups? Do you think i have too many or too few fish?

thanks, btw you guys are super efficient.

Well, it just goes to show that when things are sometimes written about a certain fish, it does not always mean that every one acts the same...Fish are like humans from a certain point of view......they are all the same, but different...

just a thought, i quite like the foxface, would i be able to swap for the dwarf angel?? Is the foxface a relatively good fish for a first marine tank?
