I had an overstocked 20 for awhile, included in the group were a pair of angels, and I had no idea they were a breeding pair.
I seperated my fish into 2 seperate tanks until I get I get a larger tank, however the angel pair have been seperated for about 2.5 months roughly.
Two weeks ago, after putting a java fern into the tank, I came home to find a massive spread of eggs across the leaves of the fern. I figured she had been holding them since the last time she was with the male, and had only recently found a suitable, broad, clear spot, and of course they became infertile without the male etc.
However I came home today to find MORE eggs all over the pipe from my HOB filter! Haha, so why does she keep laying eggs if there is no male around? Kinda sucks, hoping I can reproduce the same paramaters in the new bigger tank to see if I ever get fry.
