do plants do better in still water or moving water?

I am sure that some wold do fine without it because many do grow in weed choked bogs and swamps but I find that my plants do best when there is some water movement. Not too much, but enought to circulate it.

Movement is necessary for the plants to get nutrients. The flow of the water keeps what they need circulating around them so they can suck it up.

k, so a 145 gph powerhead wont be too much? or should i deflect the output upwards or at the glass?
-thanks

Try different possitions untill you get good circulation overall. Not directly onto the plants or they will really be tossed around or get pushed down onto the substrate.

oh, ok. its a 20 gal.

Some water movement is fine. As long as you are not injecting co2 and there is not a tidal wave in the tank then you should be fine.
