Do online petitions ever work? I dont aggree with some of the stuff peta dose but the stuff on that site is really slanted. it is runned by the CCF, which is backed by fast food chains and alot of meat based companies. Sometimes it is the best option is to put animals down. Think of the places the animals come from and the bad condition they are in.

Yes but the point of the site is to show the true side of PETA. the side that kills more animals than they adopt out, or how about the PETA chairwoman who says that animal testing is horable and should be stoped but uses meds that are still tested on animals on a regular basis, just so she can live?? If animal testing is so bad and should be stoped then how can she justify useing products test on animals?? She said in an interview that even cancer research on animals should stop and the people it would help are pretty much out of luck, why because "the animals have rights!".They say how things should be and then they do exactly what they say they want to stop when they ask for donations. And what about the "comic" books they hand out to kids without parent concent?? Very graphic and disturbing even to me.

My first encounter came when I was walking through downtown to go get a burger with some friends. The circus was going on at that time and Peta was outside protesting the circus. This guy walked by with his family, he was wearing a shirt that said something about bass fishing. This peta person starts telling the guy's little daughter(not more than 5 years old) that her father is an evil person, and that he deserves to be killed for how he treats fish.

I can understand if somebody is against fishing, but to tell a little girl that her dad is evil and deserves to die is just rediculous. Peta goes about animal rights the wrong way.

If anybody EVER did that to MY kids i would be hauled away in one of two fasions, A: with my hands and feet restrained with those little plastic zip cuff deals our law enforcement is so fond of these days while gagging on the pepper spry they would have to use to get me off the guy, or B: on a hospital gerne with both arms and legs straped once again with the little zip cuff deals and gagging from the spray. End of story no questions asked. If you want to debate my ideas and morals thats find you start yelling at my kids or insulting me in front of them in any way IT'S GO TIME.

Apologies for the following rant:

**** Peta to hell. Did it ever occur to them that people are also animals?
And if animals are so great and deserve equal treatment, why don't they go kill a load of chimps for hunting monkeys? Zoos save species. Dogs need owners. people need medicine. By all means promote animal welfare - animals can suffer and feel pain, but that just means we should kill them humanely for meat and fur. And no one who owns a fur coat they bought from a store actually killed anything themselves. Oh, and having read that ridiculous comic book, someone should point out that 'all those lovely foxes' are intelligent creatures that, given the chance, enjoy killing for sport. Animals don't have rights! Yeah, lets give oysters the vote. that'll solve all the world's problems. Animal rights is totally different from animal welfare (in fact in most cases the two terms contradict each other.) And another thing, if Peta hate people so much, logically they should all commit suicide. That might be a campaign I'd support.

BTW I didn't sign the petition cos they might hunt me down and kill me in COLD BLOOD. But that doesn't matter I'm only human. Honestly. In the UK we have this great pressure group called Pro-Test, which was set up by a 16 year old in Oxford to campaign for animal testing, because he just got so pissed off with the ALF (or something similar) protesting against a new animal lab at the university.

I think PETA really is an insane orginisation that was good in the beginning, but has become corrupt and completely lost sight of it's original goal. their basic purpose may be good, but their methodology is completely whacked and they deliver their message in a repugnant manner. they give sane animal rights people like me a bad name.

but... I really don't like that website. it's biased and backed by meat comapnies. i'm not saying I prefer PETA, i'm just saying i'm not going to support either since both are pretty nuts.

I know it's biased so I looked on PETA's website also. I found that I tend to disagree with peta and their hipocricy.

Brother. :D Glad to hear you agree!

sane animal rights people

Isn't that a contradiction in terms? 'Sane' animal rights people are regular people who like animal welfare but aren't against testing or pets or meat (maybe fur) because they like people too. ;)

BTW I have read Peta's site extensively. ;)

I don't even know what PETA is.........

I just know this thread is about animal cruelty. Correct?

Human Beings are the meanest things on earth! Animals need rights! God gave us the responsibility to take care of this earth, and so far we have done one cr*ppy job at it.

Just my opinion:)

i support the petition, but i'm not putting my full name and address on there. the site may have good intentions, but who's to say what happens to my info after that? i don't like junk mail, and i'd hate to go to jail because someone who disagreed with me and got ahold of my information decided to come and tell me what they thought. :)

The peta kills people are no better then peta them self. The CCF is run by lobbyist Richard Berman. He criticizes and targets groups who target smoking, fast food, or alcohol. He has attacked Mothers Against Drunk Driving , the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He set up the CCF with a $600,000 from tobacco company.
Berman arranges for large sums of corporate money to find its way into nonprofit societies of which he is the executive director. He then hires his own company as a consultant to these nonprofit groups. Of the millions of dollars donated by Philip Morris between the years 1995 and 1998, 49 percent to 79 percent went directly to Berman or Berman & Co. He attacks anyone whos views could impact the profits of his clients. Berman’s Guest Choice Network has an advisory panel whose members included officials representing companies ranging from Cargill Processed Meat Products and Outback Steakhouse to Minnesota Licensed Beverage Association and Sutter Home Winery. Berman’s clients are companies with vested interests in low employee wages; cheap, unhealthy restaurant-chain food, particularly meat; and tobacco, soft drink, and alcohol consumption companies like Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, Armour Swift, and Philip Morris, whose product line includes Kraft Foods and everything from Marlboro cigarettes to Oscar Meyer wieners and which is a major shareholder in its former subsidiary Miller Brewing, now known as SABMiller. PETA’s recent successes in gaining fast-food industry concessions for more humane conditions for farm animals have sent ripples of fear through the food and beverage service industry. About the same time that McDonald’s buckled to PETA’s demands, Richard Berman changed his front group’s name and stepped up his attacks. The key to Berman’s aggressive strategy is, in his own words, to shoot the messenger ... we’ve got to attack their credibility as spokespersons."

What a schmuck.

But I do have one little point I like to make - I wish people would take that money they spend railing against tobacco and alcohol and use it for something more important. Everyone knows cigarettes and alcohol are bad for us. We don't need ridiculous commercials from Truth to tell us that. I wish they would take the money they spend on those spots and use it to feed hungry people or save homeless animals. Let morons kill themselves with cigarettes. It's their problem. There are far more pressing, important and noble pursuits than telling people what they already know about smoking.
