try a hardware store. look for pure ammonia, with no surfactants or phosphates. it shouldn't bubble when you shake the bottle. Be very careful about walmart, some people say they have gotten ammonia there, but when I checked two of them (including a super walmart) they only had one type with surfactants. Both hardware stores I checked had the pure stuff though (ace and something else)

I think you might find its difficult to get pure ammonia....the 'toss in a frozen shrimp' idea works well too...when it goes furry and your ammonia levels are not high enough, toss in another one..........keep going until after your nitrite spike falls to zero for a few days....
(I'm also a fan of the 'Cycle' and Bio Spira products so I think these would work well in combination)

Just make sure ur Ammonie is 'pure' and does not have any scents/purfumes and/or color added to it (i.e. NO Sulficants).
I got mine at Stop & Shop grocery(sp?) store :D
Good Luck! :)
