I thought Gmail was out of beta and invitations weren't required anymore.

I don't think so. It says I have invites at the bottom and can't find anywhere else to sign up. it also still has beta in the logo once you log on. They have added a chat feature along with others so that may be why.
The last couple gmail accounts I've gotten were from going straight to the site- they sent a passcode number to my cell phone and I could immediately create an account.

Yes but that is not the G-mail+talk version that I have invites to, I knew it was something but couldn't remember which feature was new. Either which way sign up there or I can send invites. Sorry for trying to be nice, guess I know better now.

Ah, sounds like a different version- cool, thanks. Not sure what the "Sorry for trying to be nice, guess I know better now" is about. Just trying to make you aware that gmail is free for anyone now without invitations is all. Not a big deal.

That is all I was trying to do, share a newer version of a great service. No I did not know that invites where no longer needed nor do I know if they are needed for the video version. Just seemed like I was trying to be nice and everyone kind of jumped up and said hey you don't need an invite not even realizeing that it was something new. If you ask me it just showed the argumentative nature of a few posters. I was just trying to offer people something that I really like, and since I only need one account it would show that I would not keep up with the fact of are invites needed. Thats all, if anyone is intrested and finds out that the direct sign up does not give the chat and talk options please feel free to PM me as I will no longer be checking or replying to this thread.
