I have a few frontosa growing out in a 55 gallon. I'm wondering if it's a good or bad idea to move them into my bigger tank with my 6 inch jardini and 6 inch ghost knife. I know frontosa require a higher pH than the other two fish, but I also know that maintaining a steady pH is usually more important. Their current tank and my bigger tank have identical pH right now.

Thank in advance

I'm sorry, but I don't know much about [SIZE=-1]Tanganyika african cichlids.

I would also try the cichlid section here; some ppl don;t cross-over ;)

Good luck!

that would be risky. Fronts are peaceful and that jardini will most likely turn on them. It may be peaceful now but jardinis are notorious for turning into killers overnight. A frontosa would be no match for a jardini.

Maybe you should swap the fish over (ie Frontosa's in big tank and the Jardini in the 55gallon). I don't know much about the Jardin's though. I have Frontosa's in a 75 gallon (2 males and 5 females). They just had babies about a month ago which I have stripped the mother from and now have 16 babies in a 35 gallon. The Frontosa can be territorial especially when they have found a spot they like so I am not sure about placing them together with the Jardini's

Scleropages jardini grows to a potential 3 feet and you don't have a tank that can house this fish at maturity. moreover, the water chemistry requirements for both black ghost knife fish and arowana are VERY different from the needs of frontosa. fronts should be maintained in water with a pH of 8.5-9.4, a gH of 240-320 and a kH of 180-240. all parameters are far too high for arowana and knife fish. finally, the latter are much more timid and will gradually fade away in a tank of more aggressive and belicose species.
