Anyone know of any good aquarium stores in the NYC area? I really just know of a few Petsmarts, Petcos and Petlands (of which I go to the petland most often) And if I have time to go out of my way I go to these two places:
www.aquariumadventures.com (http://www.aquariumadventures.com)
www.fishtown-usa.com (http://www.fishtown-usa.com)
I guess Manhattan stores or Nothern NJ would be best.

I forgot to mention, I have become aware of liveaquaria.com which is a great help in trying to figure out which fish will get along with one another. Has anyone actually bought fish from there though? I can't imagine the fish arriving in any good condition through the mail.

I have bought fish and plants from there. The plants arrived in fantastic shape. One fish purchase was perfect. The pair of killifish I purchased arrrived in fantastic shape and are thriving. The other purchase was 6 cories. They sent me the wrong ones and 5 of the 6 have died. That said, they immediately gave me credit for the ones that died without requiring anything from me other than my word, so I can't be TOO mad about it. The fish come packaged extremely well and they are sent next day air. The main thing is the expense for shipping--around $35. I'd only use them if you want something you can't get locally. I'd also advise having a QT set up for anything you get from there, but that should be the case for anything new you get to add to your tank.
