I just purchased a tank from a good friend because he us moving. This tank was already established and doing well. We drained the tank down to the point the water just covered the crushed coral bed and keep all the rocks in a container moist. got the tank to my house and the entire process from drain to fill was about 1 1/2 hours. Nothing dried out and I took one of marineland 350 filters off my well established tank and put it on this new one with a second 350 brand new and added the other new on to my established tank. I am curious as to what I may see as far as a cycle and did all of our steps help to reduce it or did they not matter at all? my tank is 65 gallons been up and running for over a year, well established no problems. the new tank is 60 gallons with 50 lbs of fine crushed coral and another 40 pounds of rock. Both tanks have 2 marineland 350 bio wheel filters on them. Thanks in advance for any info.

I think you will be happily rewarded. :)

I would still expect to notice a small cycle depending on transport losses, but we all could be so lucky to acquire a tank in such a way! :jealous:

Good luck, and keep us posted. I am very interested in hearing just how well this worked out for you

Sounds as if you did well, but you need to keep things fed. How long before you plan on putting in fish?

The Fish came with the tank that is why I am concerned at this point I have been watching and I have not seen any spikes as a matter of fact every thing was 0 about 2 hours ago. Another concern is that the tank is a 60 long with 14 various cichlids. he has had this tank for over a year with no problems but that seems like a lot of fish. and I should add totoal time without fish was maybe 2 hours once I got the PH and temp up I put the fish back in the tank.
